Supposedly 1799, composed by Kaspar Karl van Beethoven
The Twelve Minuets WoO 12 are not by Beethoven: Shin Augustinus Kojima has proved that they were written by his younger brother, Kaspar Karl. Like Ludwig, Karl tried his luck as a performer and composer following his move to Vienna in 1794. Although Karl had received a musical education in Bonn, he did not prove very successful in this field and lacked his brother's talent. So in 1800 he decided to accept a safe post as a civil servant in the finance department of the Royal Imperial Treasury. (J.R.)
