Beethoven jokingly asks his friend Zmeskall to justify himself. Zmeskall had probably criticized one of the movements from the Twelve German Dances WoO 13, no. 11. Beethoven jots down a few bars from the dance, like a Corpus delicti.
He summons Zmeskall in the same joking tone to him the same day.
