Nice to know
Ludwig van Beethoven's brother Johann thanks the lawyer Weiss for his letter and announces that he will soon return to Linz. He has not been able to answer as he has been bedridden and "always surrounded", he has also not wanted to completely upset the peace; but he is now feeling better again. He will soon return to Linz and then the "thing with H. Stuber can be righted".
Beethoven had already mentioned his brother's arrival from Linz in a letter to Nannette Streicher in May 1818 (BGA 1256). In actual fact the tense atmosphere in the house might therefore have something to do with his nephew Karl, as supposed in the supplement. However, the two brothers were not always on good terms.
