Nice to know
Kaspar Karl van Beethoven writes to Härtel in Leipzig on behalf of his brother Ludwig, whose business affairs he managed between 1802 and 1806. He confirms that the String Quintet op. 29 has been sent, but reminds him that Härtel must still send him a certificate of ownership. He sends the Leipzig publishing house general details regarding prices for his brother's piano sonatas (a large one costs 50 ducats, three for 130 ducats) and offers Härtel the three Violin Sonatas op. 30.
Karl apologizes that his brother does not write himself because he was so angry about von Braun. Braun was in charge of the two court theatres and had turned down Beethoven's request for an academy, even though Beethoven had already dedicated works to his wife.
Karl asks for more time regarding the decision about opp. 36 and 37, which he had offered the publishing house, as his brother might possibly want the two works performed in an academy beforehand.
