Nice to know
In spring 1810 Beethoven had fallen in love with Therese Malfatti and entertained thoughts of marriage. On 2 May he wrote a letter to his friend Wegeler in Bonn, asking him to obtain a certificate of baptism for him (W 19). Wegeler did so and sent this document to Vienna. However, Therese did not accept Beethoven's proposal; when the certificate of baptism arrived it was probably already no longer relevant.
