Nice to know

Beethoven apologises for cancelling the planned lesson but he has to urgently see to his opera project. (In June 1811 Beethoven toyed with the idea of setting the melodrama "Les ruines de Babylone" by René Charles Guilbert de Pixérécourt to music.) Instead Beethoven promises to come more often in the coming weeks (before he leaves for Teplitz) "damit mein erhabner Schüler umso weniger meine Abwesenheit empfinde". ("so that my worthy pupil misses my absence even less").
