Nice to know
Prince Anton Heinrich Radziwill came from a Lithuanian aristocratic family. He married into the Prussian Royal Family and in 1815, he became governor of the Grand Duchy of Posen. The prince was a music-lover and composer. He wrote for example the incidental music for the drama "Faust" by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe.
During the Vienna Congress, Prince Radziwill stayed in the Danubian metropolis. If he really met Ludwig van Beethoven at that time - as it is stated every now and then - remains controversial. Although it is certain that the prince was interested in Beethoven's music. He ordered a copy of the "Missa solemnis" op. 123, and Beethoven devoted two of his works to him: the 25 Scottish Songs op. 108 and the Overture in C Major "Zur Namensfeier" ("Name Day") op. 115.(S.B.)
