Nice to know

Beethoven sends Josephine Deym two of his works (WoO 57 and a sonata, op. 53 or op. 54) and asks her to refrain from her studies of basso continuo or "to wait until I am no longer around you - then study it in God's name with a school teacher". He hopes she is less sad than the day before and tells her that he will visit the following day. The tone of the letter is tender and bears witness to Beethoven's deep affection for Josephine.
