Volta: prima volta, seconda volta

It., meaning the first time, the second time. This indicates the alternatives at a repeat. If a section of a piece of music is repeated, it is often necessary to have different connecting parts. These different concluding sections at the end of the first run-through and at the end of the repeated section are generally indicated by two numbered brackets, which are called prima volta or seconda volta according to their order.
