Zusammenfassung
Beethoven asks Josephine Deym to pass on the enclosed sonata (probably op. 69) to her brother Franz von Brunsvik. He is grateful that she has apparently not "banned him completely from her thoughts". He prefers not to answer her question as to how he is, rather than answering "too honestly". This letter is the last one from the correspondence between Josephine Deym and Beethoven, following a lengthier break between autumn 1807 and autumn 1809. What had begun in 1804 with affectionate love letters now ends with a painful farewell.
