Zusammenfassung
The man of letters, surgeon and vet Aloys Weißenbach had met Beethoven several times during the Vienna Congress and they had become friends. In October 1819 he had visited Beethoven in Mödling. As a result Beethoven decided to take his nephew Karl from Blöchlinger's institute and to send him to Weißenbach in Salzburg.
Using ornate language - he calls him "friend of the heart" - Weißenbach invites Beethoven and his nephew to visit him in Salzburg, praising the beauty of the countryside there, which he considers to be much more impressive than that around Mödling. He also asks about progress concerning the matter of the guardianship.
Even after the final positive conclusion of the guardianship case in spring 1820, Beethoven never actually realized his plan to send his nephew to Salzburg.
