Hörbrief

Zusammenfassung

Beethoven tells his publisher Schlesinger in Berlin that he sent the engraver's model for the Sonata op. 111 a few days ago. Op. 110 has probably already arrived. Beethoven asks for payment not to be made via the company Tendler & Manstein again as they charge 2% commission.

Beethoven also says that he should definitely not use the second movement of the engraver's model he has just sent for op. 111. It should be replaced by a new one, which he is sending with the next mail coach. He had given his copyist the wrong version by mistake and it had contained too many errors. The original copy is to be destroyed as soon as the replacement has arrived.

If Schlesinger sends a package of music to Bremen, he should also please enclose a copy of the Sonata op. 109 as a present for Wilhelm Christian Müller in Bremen, and have it given to him.

In addition Beethoven discusses Schlesinger's offer regarding a piano reduction of the Mass op. 123. He accepts the sum offered, although they must have further discussions regarding the copying costs. Beethoven is worried that he will have to pay the high overheads. He suggests using the company Herz for the payment transaction.

Finally Beethoven sends greetings to Schlesinger's son Maurice and thanks him once again for the roast veal which he had sent him as a surprise when he had visited Vienna.
