Zusammenfassung

Lorenz von Breuning tells his friend Wegeler about life in Vienna, including the successful academy of the Romberg cousins, "for which they received great applause and also considerable takings. This event was doubly agreeable for me; firstly on their account and secondly because of myself, as I had dared to advance the sum of 130 florins Viennese currency for this academy believing in its success, (…) part of which I naturally had to borrow. This incommoded me even more so as at the same time I had also lent Aldenbruck 100 florins."

Beethoven had returned from a concert tour (Pressburg, probably also Budapest) and had taken part in the Rombergs' academy. Breuning writes that Beethoven is "still the same" and still gets on well with the Rombergs. There has only once been a disagreement, but Breuning was able to sort things out.

Breuning writes that Beethoven holds him in high esteem and although he, Breuning, is convinced that he could not be friends with Beethoven, he enjoys occasionally talking to him. Breuning advises Wegeler to write to Beethoven because "At the moment you are not in his good books. You should write to him again so that you get back into his favour".
