Zusammenfassung
Ries complements his new year's greetings with news about the Frankfurt Theatre. To Ries, Wegeler recommended the Berlin cello player Julius Griebel (born 1809). However, Ries was not impressed with Griebel's performance. He hopes to be chosen as conductor for the Lower Rhine Music Festival in Cologne. Ries sends Wegeler the song "Die Lebensfahrt" (Life's journey) from Johann Joseph Reiff for singing voice, choir and piano (WoO 44), asking if Reiff has obtained the copies from Berlin. Bonn writer Johann Baptist Rousseau (1802-1867) offered Ries a text for an oratorio. (FG)
