Sculpture
From Greek "plastein" (form, shape). One of the main areas of fine arts. Whereas "sculpture" (from Latin "sculpere" (carve)) means a sculptor's work created in stone or wood, sculpture in this sense refers to the modelling of soft materials such as clay or wax. The term is also employed throughout the entire field of statuary, namely the art of forming three-dimensional objects. Special forms include reliefs and scratch drawings which link painting and graphics with sculpture.
