Study

From the Latin "studiare" (to endeavour). In the visual arts, the recording of a detail based on a template or model. In contrast to the sketch, which is the product of artistic invention, the study is more closely linked to the reproduction of an object. However, as it - like any other work of art - does not strive for an exact reproduction of nature, it also reflects the artist's imagination.
