Zusammenfassung
Brahms thanks music director Rafael Maszkowsky (1838-1901) from Koblenz for the invitation to conduct there. However, he must decline for reasons of fairness because he has already declined other invitations from the Rhineland. Brahms does not want to offend colleague and friend Ferdinand Hiller from Cologne. He gives his greetings to Mr. Wegeler. Between 1869 and 1890 Maszkowsky was music director at the Koblenz Music Institute. (FG)
