Zusammenfassung
Beethoven and Friedrich Treitschke offer the director of the theatre in Stuttgart a copy of the opera Fidelio for 12 gold ducats.
Following the general theatre practice of the time, operas were not usually sold in printed parts but rather in handwritten copies. Each theatre or opera house adapted the work according to their own needs anyway. Following the success of the opera Fidelio in spring 1814, Treitschke and Beethoven wrote to the great theatres in German-speaking areas to sell them their opera.
