After Stephan von Breuning died only a few months after Beethoven, Jacob Hotschevar became guardian of Beethoven's nephew Karl (Stephan had been guardian from September 1826 onwards). In the petition Hotschevar lists takings and expenditure for his charge Karl and asks the Magistrat to approve a sum for extra expenses.
