Nice to know
Beethoven informs Ries that the piano reduction of op. 92 is now in the post and on its way to England. He informs him of the publishing deadlines for this work and for the works opp. 96 and 97, which he has already sent. He asks Ries to ensure the publisher Birchall heeds these deadlines so that payment can be made very soon. Beethoven describes his bad financial situation, caused by the changed currency and the death of his brother Kaspar Karl.
The piano reduction of op. 91, for which Beethoven sends the title, must have arrived by now. Payment must only be made once all of the works named have arrived. In addition Ries is also to inform the publisher Birchall that he should reimburse Ries' and Salomon's postage costs, deducting them from Beethoven's payment. Seeing as Ries and Salomon were representing Beethoven's interests in London, they should not be out of pocket because of this.
