Steiner is attending the Spring Trade Fair in Leipzig and writes back home about business at the fair. He is sympathetic about the matters which Haslinger has described, "In the same way I sympathize with our one and only Beethoven; nobody here can believe that such a great and rare man is ignored to such a degree."
Steiner might be referring to Beethoven's immense difficulties in connection with his large academy on 7 May 1824, which had been discussed as far away as Leipzig.
