Nice to know
Beethoven tells his friend the piano maker Streicher that he will visit him on one of the following days.
In a postscript he explains that he is looking forward to the new instruments; he hopes that Archduke Rudolph will also buy one.
At this time Beethoven often gave Streicher advice on the quality of his pianos. Six months previously he had suggested that Streicher should build his pianos so that they did not wear out as quickly, that is improve the stability. It is conceivable that Streicher had actually altered the construction over the summer and was now asking Beethoven once again for his opinion.
