Nice to know
Beethoven writes to Ries regarding the publication of three works in England (opp. 92, 96, 97). He specifies the publication dates and asks for the publisher Birchall to confirm them. Once again he asks Ries to pressurize Birchall to pay the additional 10 ducats to cover copying and postage costs. In addition he mentions that he has given Neate several works for publication and that Neate should soon arrive in London. (Charles Neate, an English musician, had visited the composer in Vienna and taken opp. 61, 72, 92, 95, 102, 112, the overtures for opp.113 and 117, as well as opp. 115 and 136 back with him so that they could be performed and published in London.)
Finally Beethoven tells him about his pupil Archduke Rudolph, who also plays works by Ries. Ries' work for piano "The Dream" (op. 49) has particularly pleased Beethoven.
