Nice to know
Beethoven sends a package for "wilms" (according to the BGA he is referring Karl Wilhelm von Willisen). He asks for the first three volumes of Goethe's "Wilhelm Meister" to be sent to him. Beethoven briefly tells him about Teplitz and that he is very alone (this is actually not accurate; Beethoven probably felt lonely - only a few days before he had written his now famous letter to the "Immortal Beloved"). He hopes that Varnhagen and Bentheim will soon come to Teplitz, adding, "if they find me a little strange, I might also however find something not strange about them - if only at least we have a few good things in common, this would be enough to open up a way for our friendship."
