Nice to know

This draft of a letter was probably meant for Stephan von Breuning, who had helped Beethoven to plan Karl's future in the last year of the composer's life. Stephan von Breuning, whom Beethoven made Karl's guardian on his deathbed, organized Karl's admission into Stutterheim's regiment. Karl was meant to begin his military service in Iglau at the beginning of 1827. Beethoven makes a note of three things that are to be taken into account in connection with this.

Firstly Karl is not to be treated like a prisoner, secondly he is to be given sufficient financial support and thirdly be given enough to eat.
