Nice to know
Beethoven writes to the publisher Thomson in Scotland, telling him that he has accidentally billed him for too little for the Scottish Songs he has sent him and asks him for a further payment of 3 ducats. Beethoven also reacts to the English poems that Thomson has sent and offers to write six songs for 54 ducats. Between 1810 and 1815 Thomson tried several times to get Beethoven to write settings for English poems. The project did not come to anything in the end due to Beethoven's idea of how much he should be paid.
