Nice to know
Apart from a few breaks, Beethoven's family had lived in this house for almost 10 years - during the time period when Beethoven was between 6 and 15 years old. This house still existed until 1944.
Gottfried Fischer (1780-1864), the ninth and youngest child of the owner of the house, was a close friend of Beethoven when he was young and of his brothers. Since 1838, Fischer made notes about memories and anecdotes of the van Beethoven family in Bonn in various manuscripts, which he always upgraded. His notes are mainly based on the memories of his older sister Cäcilia (1762-1845), who had clear memories of Beethoven's youth. Fischer's texts are one of the most important sources of the daily life and the circumstances of the van Beethoven family.(S.B.)
