Nice to know
Peter Christian Breuer designed a spacious ground for the competition of a Beethoven statue, which had been anounced in 1926 in Berlin. This ground consisted of architectural elements and different figurative portrayals. In the centre was to be seen the larger-than-life sitting figure of Beethoven. After the project of erecting a Beethoven statue in Berlin had been given up, the city of Bonn was interested in Breuer's draft. As a result, the sculptor seemed to have altered his draft. The originally planned ground should now become smaller and more simple and it should be integrated into a parc-like landscape.(S.B.)
