("+ Wim[m]er Dorotheergasse / next to the Jägerhorn / Archives for all teachings about nature etc. by Dr. K. W. G. / Kastner. / First year / 1824 12 fl: C.M.")
leaf 1v: "Kost u. Wohnung fr / Studirende / im gemeinschaftl. / oder jeder für sich insbesondere / für sich allein / unter gehör. / Aufsicht etc. / Weihburggaße / No. 939 beym / Portier der Börse / zu erfragn" (J.R)
("Food and lodgings for students, either sharing or for each person alone under supervision etc. Weihburggaße / No. 939 to be asked at the porter's lodge at the stock exchange")
The first issue from January 1824 of the professional journal "Archiv für die gesammte Naturlehre" that Beethoven made a note of contains primarily articles on electromagnetism. An ad commissioned by bookseller Heubner was published in the "Intelligenzblatt" of the Vienna Newspaper, number 140, page 1002, on June 21, 1824. There is no evidence of an ad from Wimmer.
In October 1823 Beethoven's nephew Karl started studying philology at the Vienna University and moved in with his uncle. In light of frequent disputes between the two, Beethoven was looking for a separate place for Karl. He found a suitable accommodation ad in the "Intelligenzblatt" number 257 from November 8, 1824, on page 560, and wrote down the contact information: "Affordable board and lodging offered for students in a proper house close to the public schools, either sharing or alone, under supervision. On request, lessons are also given by certified teachers in various subjects, in French and Italian, in music and other useful subjects. Inquiries to be made at the porter's lodge of the imperial and royal stock exchange at Weihburggasse number 939." (F.G.)
