Joseph Mayseder, who had been a very successful Viennese violinist during his lifetime, received his musical education from Josef Sucher, Anton Wranitzky and Ignaz Schuppanzigh. For some time, Mayseder played the second violin in Schuppanzigh's quartet. Since 1800, he had repetitively performed as soloist, which was a great success. He was invited to the court for an audition and during the following years, he became extraordinarily famous.
It was probably Ignaz Schuppanzigh who introduced Mayseder to Ludwig van Beethoven. Since around 1800 already, had he been acquainted with the composer. He participated in several concerts of Beethoven and he was mentioned in several conversation books later on.(S.B.)
