Zusammenfassung

Beethoven asks Schindler to come to see him to discuss the work on the Mass op. 123. He has very little time on account of his "excursions to the castle" (Archduke Rudolph's tuition). Anton Schindler worked for Beethoven as his unpaid secretary. At the end of January/ beginning of February 1823 Beethoven had sent invitations for subscriptions to the Missa solemnis to the German courts. From the end of February onwards the orders began to arrive in Vienna. The orders were to be dealt with as quickly as possible and had to be well organized. Decisions first also had to be made as to whether the subscription copies were to be done as copies or lithographs (the decision was made for copies).
