Ludwig van Beethoven, Brief an Fürstin Maria Charlotte Kinsky, Wien, 30. Dezember 1812, Autograph

Beethoven-Haus Bonn, Sammlung H. C. Bodmer, HCB BBr 27

In March 1809 Princes Kinsky and Lobkowitz and Archduke Rudolph had drawn up a contract to pay Beethoven an annual annuity, each contributing different amounts. Prince Kinsky died on 3.11.1812 in a riding accident. Following this Beethoven tried to persuade the widow, Princess Kinsky, who was guardian of the not yet adult heirs, to continue payment of Kinsky's part of the annuity. The letter is a personal one, accompanying an official letter (HCB BBr 113) with the same content.
