Nice to know
Beethoven received the sum of 1200 florins a year from Prince Kinsky's coffers in Prague, which he was paid in two installments every six months and for which he had to personally write a receipt. Despite the fact that he had drawn up an annuity agreement with Prince Kinsky in 1809, Beethoven had to fight for this annuity in court once the Prince had had a fatal accident in November 1812. This was because the family had wanted to stop all payments. The date of the court's decision is noted on this receipt which was the basis for payment.
