Ludwig van Beethoven, Brief an Ignaz von Gleichenstein, Wien, Juni 1815, Autograph

Beethoven-Haus Bonn, NE 276

Beethoven asks Gleichenstein to "say no word about the Englishman" (probably Charles Neate, who stayed in Vienna between May 1815 until February 1816 and who took some Beethoven compositions to London). He also recommends Gleichenstein not to buy the piano sonata op. 90 that Steiner published in Vienna in June 1815, as he already owed him a lot. (J.R.)
