Nice to know

Beethoven is not sure whether his previous letter (HCB Br 226) was clear enough. He therefore now informs his Bonn publisher that the Variations op. 107 may also be published later than in half a year. He will sell the mass (op. 123) for the 100 louis d'or offered, but will stipulate some further conditions.

He is generally pleased with the plan for a complete edition; after some detailed changes have been made it can be put into practice. Instead of the money for postage he encloses two folksongs (WoO 158, 28-29), which he gives to Simrock. He hopes they are legible as a copyist had not been available.
