Nice to know
Kaspar Karl van Beethoven rejects an offer from the publishing house Breitkopf & Härtel for unspecified symphonies by his brother Ludwig as he is aware of the higher value of the works. However, he is prepared to sell the Oratorio op. 85 for 1,500 florins, and at the same time allows the publisher to make further arrangements of it. He draws their attention to the enclosed list of piano makers with their prices, which Härtel had apparently requested.
Beethoven adds in this letter that he also respects Herr Bohak (Pohak) as a maker of instruments, and also Herr Moser, whose price list will follow.
