Nice to know
Beethoven asks his publisher to give the bearer of the letter, Franz Oliva, 300 florins. He excuses his personal absence on account of moving. The form of address "Falstaff" used in connection with Artaria refers to Carlo Boldrini, at first an employee and later a partner. Beethoven also often called the violinist Ignaz Schuppanzigh "Falstaff". The cause of this nickname was their large girth.
