Nice to know
Beethoven sends Mathias Tuscher a book by Goethe and asks Tuscher's wife to accept this as a friendly memento. He promises to come by the same day and reminds Tuscher of Schmerling, whom they can surely win over. (This probably refers to matters concerning the guardianship of his nephew Karl. For a few months in 1819 Tuscher was his guardian; Schmerling was one of the appellate judges and helped Beethoven in winter 1819/1820 to prepare his petition for the Court of Appeal.)
