Nice to know
At the same time he writes a letter to his Bonn publisher Simrock, Beethoven also writes to Franz Brentano, asking him to conclude the business dealings with Simrock in due course. The latter had agreed to publish the Missa solemnis with a German text.
Beethoven announces that the mass will be sent to Franz Brentano as soon as the German text has been added, so that he can deliver it to the publisher. He also asks him to transfer the money which Simrock has promised at the most reasonable rate possible. Beethoven points to his bad financial situation at the time, which he partly explains as being due to the fact that he has to sacrifice too much time for his pupil and patron Archduke Rudolph, Cardinal of Olmütz.
