Nice to know
Beethoven writes to his nephew Karl shortly before his hernia operation. Karl is supposed to take several baths before the operation on his doctor's orders. Beethoven makes a date to bath with him and asks him to bring warm underclothes, as it might be cold afterwards.
If the tailor has not called yet, the next time he comes he should also take measurements for long johns.
Beethoven takes his leave from Karl with "your trouser button", thus showing his tender affection for him.
