Nice to know

Beethoven refers to one of Neate's letters, which he had sent two years before. He accepts the offer to write three quartets for £100 sterling. However, he draws Neate's attention to the fact that he has already handed over exclusive rights for the first quartet (op. 127) in Vienna.

Beethoven asks Neate to inform him as soon as possible whether he wants to accept his offer as other publishers are also interested in the quartets (at the time op. 127 had already been sold to Schott although the engraver's model had not been delivered).

Beethoven only asks for payment once the other two quartets (op. 132 and op. 130) have been completed.
