Nice to know

This lengthy letter to his friend Bernard is once again about his nephew, the question of the guardianship, dealings with the mother, and the school. Beethoven is disappointed that Bernard believes the other side, getting involved as a mediator, instead of being completely on Beethoven's side. As in other letters to Bernard which have survived, he describes the tense situation and asks for his support.

Enclosed is a document which Bernard probably had to read to Blöchlinger, the head of the school. Beethoven once again draws his attention to the fact that as far as possible the child is not to have any dealings with the mother.
