Nice to know
Beethoven hopes that his letter of 23 April has arrived (HCB Br 228, BGA 1384). He briefly sums up the contents to be on the safe side: He has sent two additional Variations (op. 107) -two more than the number agreed - without expecting any more money. The manuscript is with the Brentanos in Frankfurt and he has been waiting for payment for quite a while. He has sold the Lieder (op. 108) to another publisher (Schlesinger in Berlin) as Simrock had not expressed any interest in them.
