Nice to know
Beethoven's friend Ignaz von Gleichenstein had got engaged to Anna Malfatti in 1810 and married her in 1811. He probably introduced Beethoven to the Malfatti family at the end of 1809, beginning of 1810. Beethoven tells Gleichenstein in a letter that he would like to have complete freedom in his choice of piano for Frau Malfatti (the mother of Anna and Therese Malfatti). In return he promises that he will choose a very good instrument from Schanz, as piano-makers give him a reduction.
