Nice to know
Beethoven asks his nephew, possibly on account of an enclosed model, to redo the receipt for the payment of Archduke Rudolph's annuity and to add Beethoven's seal.
Furthermore he asks him to collect the payment after the 25 August.
Beethoven had an agreement from Princes Kinsky and Lobkowitz and Archduke Rudolph guaranteeing him a lifelong annuity. For his part he had to write receipts every six months following certain dictates, which he was then able to use to receive payment of the money from the appropriate coffers. In later years he increasingly asked his nephew to take care of confidential matters such as these.
