Ludwig van Beethoven, Sitzfigur - Fotografie von Wilhelm Schell nach dem Denkmalsentwurf von Peter Breuer

Beethoven-Haus Bonn, B 1801

Of all the drafts and concepts for a Beethoven monument designed by Peter Christian Breuer in the first quarter of the 20th century, only one element was ever completed - the sitting Beethoven. In 1938, one year after Breuer"s death, the sculpture, built by one of Breuer"s employees, was installed at the "Alter Zoll" in Bonn. It was removed in 1944 and later displayed again on Bonn"s Rheinaue in 1977. (S.B.)
