On July 23, 1823, Franz and Antonie Brentano celebrated their silver wedding anniversary at the Rödelheim country estate of Georg (1775-1851), Franz's oldest half-brother. Clemens (1778-1842), the younger half-brother who had just returned to Frankfurt after 17 years, served as master of ceremonies. Great efforts were taken to entertain the guests. Clemens Brentano had written poems for the occasion and handed them to the silver wedding couple as a clean copy (see NE 342 d-f), possibly together with the silver heart and cover page. (F. G.)
