Nice to know
A sketch leaf for the Fifth Piano Concerto
This sketch leaf for the first movement of the Fifth Piano Concerto op. 73 once possibly belonged to a whole miscellany of sketches for this concerto. The majority of them are now in Paris, single leaves are also held in other libraries. Beethoven's ideas for the work on the motives and themes in the first movement can be clearly seen. The marked rhythmic core of the main theme, a quaver followed by a semiquaver triplet, keeps recurring and is developed differently. (J.R.)
