Nice to know
Beethoven announces that his nephew Karl will hand over the subscription copy of the Missa solemnis op. 123 for the King of Saxony that very same day. He hopes to be able to visit Herr Griesinger as soon as possible, but is too busy at the moment.
At the beginning of 1823 Beethoven had invited the most important European courts to subscribe to the Missa solemnis. He asked envoys and other highly-placed people in Vienna to act as intermediaries. Griesinger was a senior official at the Saxon Embassy in Vienna.
