Nice to know

Beethoven asks the piano teacher and virtuoso Carl Czerny to inform him when he is at home in the evenings so that he knows at what time his nephew Karl will receive tuition.

Beethoven's nephew Karl was taught the piano by Czerny between February and August 1816. The lessons were then interrupted for a longer period due to the nephew's hernia operation and his school's move. Once tuition resumed, things changed and Karl was taught in Czerny's apartment.
